Flexible Bin

The Flexible Bin is a dynamic storage solution within SAP S/4HANA Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) designed for Flexible Storage behavior. Unlike traditional static storage, where bins are permanent master data entities, a flexible bin is generated on an as-needed basis during the put-away process and automatically deleted once the stock is fully picked. This functionality is optimized for facilities that lack fixed racking systems, such as open floor areas or bulk storage zones. By defining a storage area as a grid of cells, the system can calculate absolute coordinates (X and Y axes) and automate the lifecycle of a storage bin. This ensures that the system's digital representation of the warehouse precisely matches the physical utilization of floor space.

These bins are created either:

1. During confirmation of a Warehouse Task : A bin in a specific format is entered manually into the destination bin (NLPLA) field.

2. Via BAdI during WT creation : The system automatically calculates and assigns the bin coordinates using custom logic.
